July 25 // On Quiting_
TLDR//
Don’t quit*
*or quit!
Don't quit!
I get it.
It’s hard.
But don’t quit.
Why?
Because most people don't, can't or won't do hard things.
And as a result, most people quit.
This means the rewards only go to the people willing to stick with something long enough to earn them.
The only reward for quitting is resentment.
All the other rewards go to those who don’t.
Honorable men, well, they die hard, but they still die. It's men like me who survive and conquer. Men like me understand that the fight is not about who's right, but about who's left.
So, stay the course.
Don’t quit.
“Don’t quit” is spectacularly bad advice.
”But you literally just told me not to quit!”
Yes, but_
Respect yourself enough to walk away from anything that no longer serves you, grows you, or makes you happy.
- Robert Tew
I repeat_
Don’t waste years fighting uphill battles against locked doors!
Advice so good it stings⬏
Look around at where your energy, time and money go, and then quit what isn’t working.
When you discover you are riding a dead horse, the best strategy is to dismount.
- Unknown
Dismount now.
Quit?
Don’t quit?
Ok, but how do I know what to quit and when?
Most people quit in the wrong place.
So, what is the right place?
Here⬎
Or here⬎
Don’t quit is great advice.
Quit is great advice.
As long as we finish the sentence.
Don’t quit something that has great long-term potential, just because you can’t deal with the stress of the moment.
Or_
Quit something that does not have great long-term potential, even if it’s not currently causing you any stress in this moment.
And now_
It's your turn_
What do you need to quit asap?
And,
What shouldn’t you quit under any circumstances?
- iain.
